Ember (Shrek) Part 11

Aleena was up the whole night though debating if she should tell Ember or not. She finally makes her decision by morning to tell him.

Aleena: Ember! Ember? There's something I want to… *he's not there, then she's human again from the sun coming up*

Ember comes up the hill… angry.

Aleena: Ember! Are you alright?

Ember: Perfect! Never been better.

Aleena: I, uh. Phew, there's something I have to tell you…

Ember: YOU DON'T HAVE TO TELL ME ANYTHING PRINCESS! I heard enough last night.

Aleena: You heard what I said?

Ember: Every word.

Aleena: Well I thought you'd understand-

Ember: Oh I understand. Like you said 'who could ever love something so stupid and freaky-looking?'

Aleena: I thought that wouldn't matter to you.

Ember: Yeah? Well, it does.

Aleena is really upset and sad but then trumpets are heard.

Ember: Oh look, right on q. Princess, I've brought you a little something.

Mephiles comes in on a horse, surrounded by knights, which makes Rex wake up.

Rex: *yawn* What'd I miss? What'd I miss? *sees the knights and is scared silent*

Mephiles: Princess, Aleena.

Ember: As promised. Now hand it over.

Mephiles: Very well, hedgehog. *knight hands him a paper* The deed to your home. Cleared out as promised. Take it and GO! *he takes it* Before I change my mind. *turns to Aleena* Forgive me princess for startling you, but you startled me. I've never seen such a radiant beauty before. I, am King Mephiles.

Aleena: Mephiles? Oh, uh no, no. Forgive me my king. I was just saying farewell.

Mephiles: *gets off his horse* Oh, that is so sweet. You don't have to waste good manners on the hedgehog, hehe. It's not like it has feelings.

Aleena: Oh now don't talk like that.

Mephiles: Princess Aleena. Beautiful, fair, flawless Aleena. I ask your hand in marriage. *gets down on one knee* Will you be the perfect bride for the perfect groom?

Aleena looks at Ember, they see eye to eye, but then he looks away.

Aleena: Sure.

Mephiles: EXCELLENT! I'll start the plans! For tomorrow we wed!

Aleena: NO! *both Ember and Mephiles stare* I mean, uh, why wait? Let's get married today, before sunset. *Ember walks away*

Mephiles:  Oh? Anxious aren't we? You're right, the sooner the better *snap, snap* There's so much to do! *he gets help back onto his horse, Aleena too* There's the cake, the banner, the guest list. CAPTAIN! Round up some guests!

As Aleena leaves, Ember sees her staring at him with a pained expression on her face. 

Aleena: Fare thee well hedgehog.

*they leave*

Rex: Ember, what are you doing? You're letting her get away!

Ember: Yeah, so what?

Rex: Ember, there's something about her that you don't know. I talked to her last night, she's a-

Ember: I know you talked to her last night! You're great PALS aren't you? Now, if you two are such good friends, then why didn't you follow HER home?

Rex: But Ember, I want to go with you.

Ember: I told you didn't I? You're not coming home with me! I LIVE ALONE! MY HOME! ME! NOBODY ELSE! UNDERSTAND! NOBODY! ESPECIALLY USELESS, PATHETIC, ANNOYING, TALKING MONKEYS! *his voice sounds like he's in pain, then he walks away*

Rex: But, I thought- 

Ember: Yeah? Well you thought wrong!

Rex: Ember? 

Ember continues walking sad and he heads home. Rex was standing where he was when Ember left for a good five minutes until he decided to leave. Once Ember is back home, he turns on his radio and halleljiah begins playing. Meanwhile, Aleena is getting ready from the wedding, but she really wants to go find Ember. Ember back at his home, burns as many sunflowers as he can with his fire powers. Aleena looks around the castle, unhappy and ready to burst into tears. While Rex is resting by a river, he sees May with the chandelier still around her neck, crying, so he comforts her. As Ember and Aleena sit at the diner table in two different places, they begin to cry. Although Rex is outside Ember's house now.

Ember: *goes outside* Rex? What are you doing?

Rex: *putting sticks in a line* I think YOU of all people would recognize a wall when you see one.

Ember: But the wall is supposed go out AROUND my home, not THROUGH it.

Rex: It's around your side! That's your half and this is mine!

Ember: Oh, your half! Hmmm?!

Rex: Yes, MY half! I helped rescue the Princess! I did half the work, I get half the booty! Now hand over that big rock, the one that looks like your head!

Ember: *begins taking apart the 'wall' and Rex protests* BACK OFF!

Rex: NO! YOU back off!

Ember: This is MY home!

Rex: OUR home!

Ember: Let go, Rex!

Rex: YOU let go!

Ember: Stubborn jackass! 

Rex: Smelly hedgehog!

Ember: FINE! *walks away*

Rex: *falls* HEY! HEY! Come back here! I'm not through with you yet!

Ember: WELL I'M THROUGH WITH YOU!

Rex: Nu-uh! You know you're always mean, mean, MEAN! Well guess what! *stomps in front of Ember* NOW IT'S MY TURN! So you just SHUT UP and pay attention! *Ember in his home, Rex follows* You are MEAN to me! You insult me and you don't appreciate me or anything I do! You always push me around, or you're pushing me away!

Ember: Oh yeah? Well if I treated you SO badly, how come you came back?! HUH?!

Rex: Because that's what friends do! THEY FORGIVE EACH OTHER!

Ember: Oh yeah, yeah. You're right Rex. I forgive you. FOR STABBING ME IN THE BACK! *locks himself in the bathroom which Rex is still outside of*

Rex: You're so wrapped up in layers onion boy, you're afraid of your own feelings! 

Ember: Go away! 

Rex: See? There you are, doing it again! Just like you did to Aleena! All she ever did was like you maybe, even love you! 

Ember: LOVE me? She said I was a stupid, freaky-looking hedgehog! I heard the two of you talking! 

Rex: She wasn't talking about you, okay? She was talking about... uh... somebody else. 

Ember: *comes out* She... wasn't... talking about me? Well then who was she talking about?

Rex: I ain't say anything. You don't want to listen to me, right? Right?

Ember: Rex…

Rex: NO!

Ember: Ok! Look, I'm sorry. Alright? *Rex gives Ember a cold shoulder glance. Ember exhales and then looks apologetic* I'm sorry. I guess I am just stupid, scary, dangerous fire elemental. Can you forgive me?

Rex: *turns around* See? That's what friends are for, right?

Ember: Right. *reaches his hand out* Friends?

Rex: *shakes hands with Ember* Friends.

Ember: So... what did Aleena say about me?

Rex: Ah, what're you asking me for? Why don't you go and ask her!

Ember: The wedding! We'll never make it in time! 

Rex: Ha-ha-ha! Never fear! Where there's a will, there's a way. And I have a way. *whistles, and May and Knuckles appears in front of them*

Ember: Rex! AH HA! HA, ha! Come here you! *nuggies Rex* 

Rex: All right, all right, that's enough. No one likes a kiss-ass. *he stops, and May holds his hand* Hold on TIGHT! I haven't had the chance to install seat belts yet.

They take off and enjoy the ride.

Rex: Oh yeah, I'm almost forgot! *recites something in Latin then spits on Ember*

Ember: Eww! Dude!

Knuckles: I don't know anymore!

Then they see Mephiland.
